Treework flooring have now finished installing special Oak overlay flooring in all thirteen apartments in the refurbished Granary in Bristol (see previous news item). All concerned think the floors are an outstanding item in this prestigious project.
Our biggest challenge in May was fitting English Elm in a new house which had underfloor heating installed. We have applied the first coat of Hardwax Oil and the result is stunning. We have also installed Character Oak in various situations. Two of these projects were old customers who were so plaesed with floors we had fitted some years ago that they now wanted additional rooms completed. We have also installed an Oak overlay floor in Marling House which is a magnificent refurbishment of a propert near Painswick in Gloucestershire – see the photos.
Treework were recently asked to supply Oak flooring for a new large bungalow which had a concrete screed floor. As the property had to be suitable for the use of a wheelchair Treework machined and laid an Oak overlay fixed to a plywood base. This minimised height differences between floor finishes. We have a method of fixing which allows us to supply a wider overlay board than is usual – in this case we supplied a mix of 4″, 5″ and 6″ boards which gave the appearance of a traditional Oak floor. Our overlay is also able to be resanded like a traditional floor and so could last the lifetime of the property.
To match the classic style of a townhouse Treework installed a herrinbone pattern Oak floor with a two board width border. The floor was finished with Hardwax Oil
The London design company MBDS asked Treework to install Oak floors to the new Cote Restaurant in Wardour Street. These projects always have ridiculously tight timescales which get worse as the project nears completion. The wood floor is about the last thing to happen before the funiture gets delivered so we are used to pressure. The picture show that good quality work can still be delivered in these circumstnces.
A burst pipe damaged the Maple floor in ‘Wild Garlic’ – a restaurant in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. Treework removed the damaged floor and installed new Prime Maple strip and finished it with Hardwax Oil. We also refinished the undamaged other half of the restaurant to match as closely as possible. The works were completed to minimise the disruption to the restaurant.
